Mid-Island Co Op

Located on Vancouver Island, BC, Mid Island Co-op has been in business since 1959 and was created by local citizens as an alternative way to provide themselves with goods and services. We currently have more than 80,000 members throughout our territory, spanning from Cowichan Valley to Port Hardy.

In order to serve our members better, we are continuing to expand and develop Mid Island Co-op throughout the Mid Vancouver Island Region.

All of our profits stay in the communities we serve through re-investment in the Co-op, equity allocations to our member-owners and through contributions to community organizations and local youth.

Macandale Rentals Ltd.

Macandales has proudly served Northern Vancouver Island since 1978. We specialize in the sales and service of logging, marine, small engines, home and garden, and off-road recreation equipment and supplies. We also have a large, ever expanding selection of workwear, safety gear, and casual clothing. We are Port Hardy’s authorized sales and service centre for Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Yamaha Marine, and BE Power Pressure Washer products, and also carry products from many other brands such as Carhartt, Helly Hansen, Viking, Viberg, Pioneer, Canswe, Big K, Sevaen, Stanfield’s, and Mustang.

Kwa-lilas Hotel

The Kwa’lilas Hotel was built by our very own k’awat’si Construction company. The building makes extensive use of local cedar and the design is meant to resemble the traditional big house style with a smoke hole at the top of the building. Traditionally, when visitors see smoke coming from a big house, it means welcome. You will find many expressions of our culture throughout our Port Hardy hotel including masks and designs by our artists. This is our way of sharing our history and legends and opening our hearts to welcome you to the North Island. Gila’kasla!
